Generally, there are three types of sealing gasket for pipelines: non-asbestos, rubber, graphite, etc.; Metal gasket: iron, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. Semi-metal gasket: winding gasket, coated gasket, rubber gasket, foam rubber gasket, etc.
Non-metallic gaskets are the most widely used sealing gaskets. Their excellent tolerance to most media and temperature and pressure resistance make them suitable for most sealing systems. Asbestos-free rubber gaskets are the first choice or even the only choice for pipe sealing gaskets in most enterprises. Different materials and processes make asbestos-free gaskets have different properties and working conditions, convenient processing and relatively low cost, which can meet the sealing needs of the vast majority of pipeline interfaces. Ptfe gasket has excellent corrosion resistance and aging resistance, and will not cause pollution to any medium, which is suitable for water treatment and transportation of chemical raw materials. Graphite gasket has the performance of high temperature resistance, after the composite with metal can withstand the high temperature of more than 1000℃.
Metal gasket is the whole metal processing, can withstand high temperature and high pressure, relatively high safety performance, has a certain elasticity and pressure self-sealing function, can only be used under the condition of frequent changes in equipment parameters. But its processing technology and the sealing system itself has high requirements, the installation accuracy will also have a greater impact on the sealing effect.
The composite gasket of metal and non-metal materials has the advantages of both, can be customized according to the actual use needs, can be full of more stringent sealing requirements, its own performance can also increase the service life, in the sealing system parameters change to maintain a long-term excellent sealing performance.
According to the performance of the above common gaskets, the appropriate gasket should be selected in different pipeline sealing systems. The following are some suggestions for the selection and use of the gasket.
1. Under ordinary conditions with low pressure and temperature requirements, asbestos-free gasket has the best cost performance.
2. High temperature and high pressure steam and some inflammable and explosive toxic media and other occasions, need to ensure the safety and reliability of the flange seal, can choose the metal and semi-metal composite gasket with excellent performance.
3. In the case of frequent changes in temperature and pressure, vibration and impact, toothed composite pad or metal winding gasket with good resilience should be used.
4. High temperature system should be used to prevent medium permeability strong, will not expand the graphite composite gasket, ceramic fiber pad, etc., can be in high temperature working conditions for a long time seal.
5. Ptfe gasket can be selected for highly demanding systems such as strong corrosive media or condensate finishing treatment, which will not pollute the medium and will not age, and can play an excellent long-term sealing role in the case of low temperature.
