Rubber material is divided into 2 kinds from the source, natural rubber and synthetic rubber

Synthetic rubber is divided into polar rubber and non-polar rubber from the molecular structure. Polar rubber has good oil resistance in general, and non-polar rubber has poor oil resistance.

Non polar rubber: styrene butadiene rubber, butadiene rubber, ethylene propylene rubber, silicone rubber, butyl rubber

Polar rubber: nitrile butadiene rubber, neoprene rubber, fluorine rubber, chloro-alcohol rubber, hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber and so on

Classification of rubber materials

NBR: Suitable for oil hydraulic oil, ethylene glycol hydraulic oil, double ester lubricating oil, gasoline, water, silicone grease, silicone oil and other media. It is the most widely used and lowest cost rubber seal. Not suitable for ketones, ozone, nitrohydrocarbons, MEK, chloroform and other polar solvents. The general temperature range is -40 to 120 ° C.

HNBR hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber: excellent corrosion resistance, tear resistance and compression deformation resistance, good ozone resistance, sun resistance and weather resistance. It has better wear resistance than nitrile rubber. It is suitable for washing machinery, automobile engine system and refrigeration system using the new environmental protection refrigerant R134a. Not recommended for use in alcohols, esters, or aromatic solutions. The general temperature range is -40 to 150 ° C.

SIL silicone rubber: excellent resistance to heat, cold, ozone and atmospheric aging. It has good insulation performance. But tensile strength is worse than ordinary rubber, no oil resistance. Suitable for electric water heater, electric iron, microwave oven and other household appliances. It is also suitable for all kinds of objects in contact with the human body, such as water bottles and water dispensers. It is not recommended for use in most concentrated solvents, oils, concentrated acids and sodium hydroxide. The general temperature range is -55 ° C to 250 ° C.

Fluorine rubber (FKM): high temperature resistance is better than silicone rubber, with excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance and chemical resistance, but cold resistance is poor. It is resistant to most oils and solvents, especially acids, aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, animal and vegetable oils. Suitable for diesel engine, fuel system and chemical plant sealing requirements. Not recommended for ketones, low molecular weight esters, and mixtures containing nitrates. The general operating temperature range is -20 ~ 250 ℃.

FLS fluorosilicone rubber: Its performance has the advantages of both fluororubber and silicone rubber, with good oil resistance, solvent resistance, fuel resistance and high and low temperature resistance. It can resist the erosion of oxygenic compounds, aromatic solvents and chlorine solvents. It is commonly used for aviation, aerospace and military purposes. Exposure to ketones and brake fluids is not recommended. The general temperature range is -50 to 200 ° C.

EPDM EPDM: has good weather resistance, ozone resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance. Can be used for alcohols and ketones, also can be used for high temperature steam environment seal. Suitable for bathroom equipment, car radiator, car brake system. Consumption or contact with mineral oil is not recommended. The general temperature range is -55 ° C to 150 ° C.

CR Neoprene: excellent sun and weather resistance. Not afraid of dichlorodifluoromethane, ammonia and other refrigerants, resistant to dilute acid and silicone grease, but in low aniline point mineral oil expansion. It tends to crystallize and harden at low temperature. Suitable for contact with atmosphere, sunlight, ozone in various environments, and a variety of fire resistance, chemical corrosion resistance sealing links. Not recommended for strong acids, nitro hydrocarbons, esters, chloroforms, and ketones. The general temperature range is -55 to 120 ° C.

Natural rubber: has good wear resistance, elasticity, breaking strength and elongation. However, it ages easily in air and becomes sticky when heated. Easily expands and dissolves in mineral oil or gasoline. Alkali resistant but not strong acid resistant. It is suitable for automobile brake oil, ethanol and other liquids containing hydroxyl ions. The general temperature range is -20 ° C to 100 ° C.

Polyurethane rubber: The mechanical properties of polyurethane rubber are very good, and the wear resistance and high pressure resistance are far better than other rubbers. It has good aging resistance, ozone resistance and oil resistance, but it is easy to hydrolyze at high temperature. Generally used in high-pressure, wear-resistant sealing links, such as hydraulic cylinders. The general temperature range is -45 ° C to 90 ° C.
