The factors affecting the properties of silicone rubber products are as follows
1. Hardness.
The ability of a material to resist a hard object being pressed into its surface is called hardness. Silicone rubber has a Shore hardness range of 10 to 80, which gives the designer full freedom to choose the required hardness to best achieve a particular function. Various intermediate hardness values can be achieved by mixing different ratios of polymer substrates, fillers and auxiliaries. Similarly, the time and temperature at which the heat is cured can also change the hardness without destroying other physical characteristics.
2. Tear strength.
Resistance to the application of force to a notched sample to impede the expansion of the notched or notched sample. Hot sulfur solid silicone rubber can not be torn even if it is exposed to extremely high torsional stress after cutting. The tearing strength of hot sulfurized solid silicone rubber ranges from 9 to 55 kN/m. The tear strength of fluorosilicone rubber ranges from 17.5 to 46.4 kN/m. The tear strength of liquid silicone rubber ranges from 11.5 to 52 kN/m.
3. Operation time.
The operation time is calculated from the moment when the colloid is added with vulcanizing agent. This operation time and after the vulcanization time is not completely limited, colloid from the moment of adding vulcanization agent has been vulcanization reaction, this operation time is to say that the product 30 minutes of vulcanization reaction can not affect the quality of the finished product. Therefore, the more time saved in product operation, the better for the finished product.
4. Curing time.
Some places will say curing time. That is to say, after such a long time, the silicone vulcanization reaction is basically over. This is basically over meaning that the product is ready for use, but there's actually a very small part of the curing reaction that's not over. So products made of silicone rubber, such as silicone molds, usually need to be put into use for a period of time.
5. Viscosity.
The bulk property of a liquid, quasi-liquid, or quasi-solid that resists flow, that is, the internal friction or resistance to flow between molecules in response to an external force. The viscosity is usually proportional to the hardness.
6. Tensile strength.
Tensile strength is the force required per range unit to cause a sample of rubber material to tear. The tensile strength of hot sulfurized solid silicone rubber is between 4.0-12.5mpa. The tensile strength of fluorosilicone rubber ranges from 8.7-12.1MPa. The tensile strength of liquid silicone rubber ranges from 3.6 MPa to 11.0MPa.
7. Elongation.
It is usually referred to as THE "ultimate RUPTURE elongation" or the percentage increase relative to the original length when the sample breaks. The general elongation of hot sulfurized solid silicone rubber ranges from 90 to 1120%. The general elongation of fluorosilicone rubber is between 159 and 699%. The general elongation of liquid silicone rubber is between 220 and 900%. Different processing methods and the choice of hardener can greatly change the elongation. The elongation of silicone rubber is closely related to temperature.
